My name is David Steenkamp and I do web design and development.
I have been doing this type of work for over 7 years. Building websites has always been something I knew I wanted to do, so in 2006 I moved to the Lower Mainland from Vernon, BC. I didn’t have a job secured, but decided to take the leap anyways and did all I could to make it out here. After finding full time work at a web development company, I knew I was finally doing what I truly wanted. I love the fact that I can help give people and companies a place of their own online and teach them many things along the way. My experiences have been nothing short of amazing, and I hope to have many more great experiences in the future.
In my free time, which there usually is not a lot of, I enjoy escapades with my wife, walks with my dog Jude, cooking, fishing, and learning more about web design and development. I believe learning and sharing ideas are two of the best things anyone can do, so I am constantly in-taking as much information as my brain can handle. I’m a bit of a slow learner with some things (admittedly), but I am very persistent, motivated, dedicated, and strive to be the best that I can. I am a true believer that “code is poetry” and anything less than perfection will just not suffice.
My favourite thing about web development is the many ways you can accomplish the same thing. Often, there is a choice as to how you want to proceed to fix an issue or solve a problem, and problem solving gives me a huge sense of accomplishment once all is said and done. I also really enjoy coffee while I work… in fact I have one right now as I write this. =)
